When I was little, there was only one shopping mall in the immediate area. We shopped mostly with the change of seasons which meant we went only a couple of times a year. It was Miami, FL. School clothes and Summer clothes. There was this department store, Burdines. I believe it was bought out by Macy's, but don't quote me on that and I don't always check my facts before blogging. I remember hating the mall in grade school. I so was not into clothes...but for some reason I loved the smell of brand new clothes...from Burdines. I always hated having to put the new clothes in the washer 'cause the smell would go away.
So, I bought a shirt at Macy's the other day. I've stopped trying things on at the store. I prefer trying on at home. It's sort of a game, really...How Well Do You Know Your Body? I'd say 80% of time I'm on target. Not bad, and always looking for an excuse to go shopping...so if I have to return something, I'm usually sucked into shopping some more.
I put the shirt on and it came back to me! It smelled like Burdines clothes! I love that smell that I remembered from so long ago...and the memories that go along with it, of course.
It's Wednesday, what do you love?
Okay so I thought I was the only weird one. I love the smell of new clothes also! I love to shop and I think I might have an addiction. I am bargain hunter though and am always hitting the clearance racks. When I hear people say things like “Well I paid $ 100 for my jeans.” I think “Why? What a idiot!” There are so many cute clothes for great deals. I never pay full price for anything.
ReplyDeleteDamnit Steph, now I think I might have to go shopping to get my fix.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning, it smells like victory...
ReplyDeleteYou know when you get a CD or DVD and they have those stickers over the opening so that you can't open them fully without removing the sticker? I love it when I can pull the entire sticker off in one continuous piece. Makes me feel like a ninja.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Pickle - I love bargain shopping! Ross and Marshalls are my best friends!
ReplyDeleteMaxwell - the packaging on CD's and DVD's drives me insane!
Arlequin - you are a twisted dude...
:)
Are you flirting with me? lol
ReplyDeleteI actually love the sensation/smell/feel/whatever you call it, after a good thunderstorm... it's like the air itself has been washed...
I love how excited Myles (dog) gets when I walk thru the door. Awwwwwwwww
ReplyDeleteI hate shopping. lol It bugs me so bad. I don't know if it's the people or what. I go when Phil puts his foot down and tells me not to come back without a new outfit. I don't know what is wrong with me.. Most women love buying clothes. I should have been a spartan.. My sister had enough clothes to fill a store. I'm not even talking about her shoes!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW thanks for the recomended reading. Heading over there in just a sec to check your friends blog our!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE coffee in the morning.
Usually around the first of August, Mom would take us shopping for school supplies. Paper, pencils, folders and we always ended up with a new pair of tennis shoes. I would beg and beg to be able to wear them before school started so they wouldn't be that "glow-in-the-dark-white" color indicating they had just been removed from the box on the first day.
ReplyDeleteI loved Burdines! (Not sure about the buy out though.)
ReplyDeleteI love that I managed to work, pick up both kids, make it to a doctor's appointment on time, dinner, AND to the Circus today. All without any stress.
Love it when my OCD works in my favor.
I remember dirtying up glow in the dark white shoes! And then being bummed when they looked dirty!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh! Burdines.
